I am honored to have been chosen as a RoC® Skincare Ambassador. As such, I have received products from RoC, a skincare brand that since its inception in 1957 has been creating revolutionary products that promote skin health.
What is RoC?
RoC Skincare, a French brand, was founded by Dr. Jean-Charles Lissarrague and named for the Parisian pharmacy, Roge Cavailles, where he created his products. Lissarrague is credited with creating the first hypoallergenic skincare product and also the first sunscreen. (My fair and hyper-allergic skin can’t imagine a world without those types of products. Thank you, Dr. Lissarrague!) RoC is also credited with pioneering the use of retinol, a form of vitamin A and known for visibly reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Why is RoC Different?
I had been familiar with the RoC brand long before I became a RoC ambassador. I’ve used the brand, having been given a sample of it at a beauty event years before. And, when I had used up the free product, I bought it again. But, here’s the thing: RoC is available in mass market retailers and in drugstores. It’s affordable. It’s accessible – and I confess that my tastes used to run to the more upscale, exclusive and elusive luxury brands that were available only in high-end retailers and that cost a pretty penny. My experience as a beauty writer and now, as the founder and editor of EverBeautiful.com, have dissuaded me of that opinion. Why should I pay hundreds of dollars for a product when I can get one that contains the same ingredients and works just as well for a fraction of the cost? I don’t. Because there’s RoC.
RoC Retinol Correxion® Deep Wrinkle Serum
One of the products I received as a RoC Ambassador is RoC Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Serum. I love this stuff. I’ve been using it for about a week and, while that’s not long enough to notice marked improvements, my skin is smoother and brighter. The product helps visibly reduce fine lines and deep wrinkles and, while that’s a big claim, RoC has clinical tests to prove the product’s efficacy. You’ll see differences in skin tone and appearance after four weeks and after 12 weeks, deep wrinkles will appear diminished. Here’s my take on the product: It applies smoothly and while this is difficult to explain, it feels like it’s working. You know that tingly, tighter feeling you get after a facial? Using RoC’s Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Serum feels like that. It tingles and I know it’s working. The product is loaded with RoC’s retinol, an ingredient that is recommended by dermatologists to fight the effects of aging by boosting collagen production and speed cell turnover. I use RoC’s serum once or twice a day and apply it after cleansing my skin. And because retinol can promote sun sensitivity, I use a moisturizer or foundation that contains an SPF on top of it. This does not in any way inhibit how the serum works. That’s one of the beauties of serum. Apply it first and then apply whatever other moisturizers or cosmetics you like on top of it. But do be aware of the sun and use products with sunscreen and that are devoid of retinol or other alpha hydroxy acids for at least a week after discontinuing use of the serum. (Do this with any product that contains retinol.) MSRP: $22.99
RoC Multi Correxion® 5 in 1 Restoring Night Cream
Since I’ve been using this product, it’s become part of my nightly routine. I cannot imagine not using it. RoC Multi Correxion 5 in 1 Restoring Night Cream contains HEXINOL™ Technology, a new discovery in anti-aging. I don’t know how it works but I like what it does. My house is so dry at this time of year and I usually wake up with dry, flaky skin. But not since using this product. Nope! My skin is hydrated when I wake up. It appears less blotchy. (My skin has a tendency toward blotchy redness. Very nice.) And I’ve only been using it for about a week! I cannot wait to see how my skin looks in the weeks to come. Women, in a clinical study, noted improvements in their skins’ firmness and elasticity after four weeks of use. I’m in! MSRP: $28.99
RoC Retinol Correxion® Eye Cream
I’ve received many eye creams from other brands to review for EverBeautiful.com readers and I admit that I am generally not a huge fan of them. (When I find one I like I share it with you but, because that’s been so rare, eye creams are not part of my beauty regimen. It’s not because they don’t work, but because maybe I’m sloppy in applying them. They get in my eyes. They’re thick and gloppy and heavy. I don’t like the way they feel and, if I apply them in the morning, I have to wait too long for them to absorb before applying my makeup. Either that or I just end up wiping them off and that’s no good. I recently reviewed an eye cream for EverBeautiful.com readers and you may remember that it costs $599.00! Yowza! And I liked it. I don’t know about you, but $599.00 is too pricey for me to pay, even though the product was light and lovely and made a difference in the appearance of the skin around my eyes. I was hesitant about RoC’s Retinol Correxion Eye Cream for all the reasons mentioned – but I needn’t have been. It’s light, absorbs quickly so I can apply my eye makeup without it pooling or pulling. And, because it also contains retinol, I feel the tingle. (I’m using that tingle as my barometer of whether or not the product is working. This one, as with the other RoC products, seems to be. Honestly, I love that tingle. The product doesn’t just lay there. It DOES something!) I will continue to use RoC Retinol Corrextion Eye Cream and will report back to you in several weeks. MSRP: $22.99
So here’s the takeaway – RoC Skincare products, at least the ones I tried, have thus far lived up to their promise. I will continue using them and report back in a few weeks to let you know of my skin’s progress. I look forward to the process. The products are easy to apply, easily accessible and affordable. I noticed a pleasant tingling and tightening as soon as I applied them which signifies to me that they are working. My hyper-allergic skin had no allergic reaction to any of the products and I have thus far noticed a smoother, brighter and dewier complexion.
