These months are made for vacations. The kids are out of school, summer Fridays are really a thing in many offices and balmy weather, sunny skies and longer days beg to be used for relaxation. Whether you’re heading to the beach, a cosmopolitan city or your own backyard, have fun – but don’t forget to pack sun protection.

Studies indicate that the number one cause of premature aging is the sun. Dermatologists urge us to use sunscreen every day, all year round to prevent premature skin aging. They recommend using a broad-spectrum product with a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of 30 or higher. This is great advice, but I know many people who would rather endure sun damage than use sunscreen. It’s too gloppy, too thick, too heavy on my skin, they say. But what about moisturizers? Many of us use those every day so why not choose one with sun protection? With that thought in mind, I did a quick inventory of my skincare products to see which ones contained sunscreen. The results of my admittedly unscientific research surprised me. More of my moisturizers didn’t contain sunscreen than did. My foundation has sun protection, but I don’t wear foundation in the summer when I like to keep my beauty routine simple. I slather on a moisturizer, fill in my eyebrows, apply a coat of mascara and I’m good to go, or so I thought. But no. I’m exposing my skin to the damaging UVA and UVB rays of the sun. This is neither good nor smart.

RoC Skincare SPF Products

About a week or so ago I received a lovely gift from RoC Skincare to take with me on any vacation I may have planned in the coming weeks. It contained a beautiful towel and two of their anti-aging skincare products. “Bon Voyage,” the enclosed gift card proclaimed. “To take on your journey, enclosed you’ll find a breezy towel and two daily moisturizers to help reduce the signs of aging while simultaneously protecting skin from harmful UVA/UVB rays.”

Hm, so RoC got it right. Again. I’m a RoC Skincare fan and regular readers of EverBeautiful.com know that I am a brand ambassador for the company. This means that I get free product to test and review for my readers. And, as much as I love swag, I don’t allow it to influence my opinions which are honestly reflected in my reviews. I’m not writing a review now. But I am posting this to let you know that, if you’re like me and many of your moisturizers don’t contain sun protection, check out RoC.

The lovely people at RoC Skincare sent me their Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Daily Moisturizer. Retinol, as you probably already know, is a vitamin A derivative that helps skin produce collagen. It can also reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, help reduce discoloration and improve skin texture. Because retinol can degrade and lose its effectiveness when exposed to air, scientists at RoC Skincare developed processing guidelines that limit its exposure to light and oxygen, thereby preserving its strength and integrity. In addition, all of RoC’s retinol-containing products are packaged in aluminum to further protect this key ingredient. I was also sent Multi Correxion 5 in 1 Daily Moisturizer. Multi Correxion 5 in 1 Daily Moisturizer is created using the company’s HEXINOL Technology, which targets five skincare concerns in one product. And, of course, both products contain broad-spectrum SPF 30.

I used RoC products before I was approached by the company to be a brand ambassador. I like them. They’re kind to my sensitive and highly allergic skin, they hydrate without feeling greasy and I do believe that they work to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. (I urge you to try RoC’s Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Filler. It is genius and fills in lines and wrinkles without leaving a nasty residue of product on your face. Get it here … )

In addition, RoC Skincare products are gently priced.

So, enjoy summer but be sun-safe. Moisturize with an effective product that also contains a broad-based SPF of 30 or higher. I rock RoC. Get their SPF products here:
