There is no denying that Dennis Basso is king when it comes to fur creations but it was his cocktail and evening dresses that took center stage at New York Fashion Week this past Tuesday. The cities south of the border were the inspiration for his Spring/Summer 2016 Collection but forget kitsch and stereotypical tropical patterns. The sometimes playful but ever chic collection with its share of glamorous dresses, evening coats and intricately hand-embroidered gowns will appeal to Mr. Basso’s loyal customer and also to a younger clientele who will want to own at least one pair of body conscious high cut shorts and a floral print dress or two. Nobody does elegant better, to wit: an ivory linen hand cut and embroidered broadtail coat and a stunningly beautiful hand embroidered gold floral lace gown.
