Dennis Basso’s Fall/Winter 2015 Collection takes its inspiration from the 1970s and steps that already-decadent decade of boho chic, disco dazzle and glam and flash up a notch or two. Slinky gold velvet gowns poured down the runway like molten metal; slouchy trousers were topped with luxe fur jackets. One look even featured a fur-trimmed hoodie. Mr. Basso is, of course, known for his way with fur and for this collection, many of the fur coats and jackets were oversized and treated with long leather fringe to beautiful effect. There was even a full-length, sable-trimmed poncho that would have befitted the most glamorous Studio 54 dance-floor denizen. But the clothes. Oh, the clothes! There were bias-cut, drape-y and gorgeous golden gowns, luxe chiffon jumpsuits, high-waisted palazzo pants, oh-so-flattering halter necklines and hand-beading and embroidery all created with a level of opulence that is the hallmark of Dennis Basso.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, a video is worth a million. While there is nothing like being in the audience of Dennis Basso’s fashion shows – thank you again, Mr. Basso, for inviting me. I am honored, as always – one can at least get a sense of how the creations move from a video. Mr. Basso’s designs sway and waltz, glide and float down the runway. They don’t so much move as they do dance. And we are talking about fabric and fur! Mr. Basso’s artistry is in full view in this spectacular collection. Kudos!
