Get the Look: Amy Poehler at the 2015 SAG Awards
Celebrity makeup artist to the stars, Brett Freedman, created Amy Poehler’s sultry beauty look before walking the red carpet at the SAG awards last night. Brett mixed warm and cool tones on her eyes and created a pale pink lip to soften the look. “A vivid eye and pink lip struck the perfect balance to her plunging midnight blue Jenny Packham dress,” said Brett.
Eyes
1. Apply a taupe shadow, like MAC Wedge, to the bottom lash line and crease. Next, deepen the ends with a plum shadow to add definition.
2. Dust a shimmering silver shadow, like MAC Idol Eyes, on the lids with a damp brush.
3. Smudge Elizabeth Arden pencil in Black Violet along the upper lash line.
4. Lastly, make eyes pop by running two coats of black mascara through upper and lower lashes.
Brows
1. Stroke the lighter shade of the Brett Brow Duo-Shade Pencil behind existing hairs and the deeper shade to fill in sparse areas and define the tail.
2. Next, apply a golden eye shadow, like MAC Gold Mine, with a damp fantail brush to lighten brows.
3. Finally, set the arch by brushing Brett Brow Arch-Control Gel upwards through the brow.
Lips
1. Sweeten up the smoky eye by applying a cool pink tone like Chanel #357 across lips.

Get the Look: Eddie Redmayne at the 2015 SAG Awards
Groomer Johnnie Sapong created a “man about town” look for Eddie Redmayne, who won the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role category for his performance in The Theory of Everything. Sapong shared that the keys to the look were “healthy, glowing skin and lived-in hair.” Following is the breakdown of the 30-minute routine. (I’m so trying this on my husband. Oh, Charlie, here’s looking at you, kid.)
CLEANSE
- First, Sapong cleansed the skin using RéVive Exfoliating Cleanser Soft Polishing Cream, $75, followed by RéVive Balancing Toner Soothing Skin Refresher, $65, which ensured that Redmayne’s skin was in “tip top” shape and “fresh.”
MOISTURIZE
- Sapong then began a ten minute express facial using RéVive Moisturizing Renewal Cream Retexturing Hydrator, $195,“creating circular motions all over Redmayne’s face, especially in drier sensitive areas, to activate the muscles and tone.”
- Next, he dabbed RéVive Moisturizing Renewal Eye Cream Ultra Retexturizing Hydrator, $140, around the eyes.
FINAL STEP
- Once the skincare regimen was complete, Sapong let Redmayne’s skin rest for ten minutes. He then applied Givenchy Mister Mat Mattifying Foundation Primer, $36, to diminish shine.
- He finalized the actor’s look with RéVive Lip Perioral Renewal Serum Targeted Vertical Line Repair, $115.
PRE-EVENT SKINCARE TIPS
- Before an event, “a man can prepare his skin by cleansing, toning and moisturizing twice a day.” Sapong typically prescribes a skincare regimen “weeks before an event.”
