Many and varying trends were trotted out at New York Fashion Week last week but one beauty trend was a constant on many of the runways and that was fuller brows. Brows frame the face, draw attention to the eyes and cheekbones and give the face a more youthful appearance.

Better Brows

Frankly, I’m brow-challenged. This wasn’t always the case. I tweezed my eyebrows into nothingness back in the day when that was a trend and, hell, they never fully grew back.  They’re there – but they’re sparse. I’ve learned to draw an artful yet natural arch with a stiff, angled brush and eyebrow wax. In fact, one of the very first things I do upon waking is to paint on my brows. I am naked without them and, as much as I adore makeup, I can go without coating my lashes with mascara and tinting my lips and cheeks – but don’t take away my eyebrow makeup! I do feel that their presence makes my face look younger and my eyes look bigger. So, bring on the brow!

Here are some tips on enhancing your brows from Wink Brow Bar founder and CEO, Umbreen Sheikh and Smashbox, which is also my favorite brow makeup.

1.  Threading is a great option for those who do not naturally have full brows. It stimulates hair growth within the brow in a natural, organic and chemical-free way by exfoliating the skin and allowing hair follicles to grow healthily.

No time to go to the salon?

Try Smashbox Brow Tech Collection to shape and finish brows.

2.  Brow powders are best to not make your brows look overdone or fake when you have sparse or thinned brows. I prefer this over any other type of product, as it ensures the natural, yet bold look that is so popular now!

Try Smashbox Brow Tech Trio.

3.  Tinting brows (coloring your brows with a semi-permanent brow specific color) is a great option for women looking to add fullness and definition to their brows and can become an essential- once done, it can last 3-6 weeks and there is no maintenance required.

For an on the go option try Smashbox Brow Tech to Go.
