St. Bartholomew’s Church in Midtown, New York was the beautiful site of Dennis Basso’s recent Fall/Winter 2018/19 New York Fashion Week Collection. The Collection was notable not only because it marked an evolutionary step in Mr. Basso’s career – his interpretation of sportswear and more casual daytime dressing; it was also his 35th anniversary collection. Mr. Basso is best known for creating luxurious and elegant furs and evening wear and this collection did not disappoint those who expect to see an off-the-chart level of luxury from Basso whose attention to detail, cut, craftsmanship and embellishment is second to none. But the addition of daytime dressing, especially sportswear, was a nice surprise. Mind you, these are not clothes you’ll wear to take your child to the playground, unless the playground is in, say, the South of France and your child is European royalty. Basso cannot help it. Everything he touches turns to luxe – and that, even when it comes to sportswear and day dressing, is beautiful. See. for yourself.
