Please forgive the tardiness of this post. I attended the Dennis Basso Spring 2017 Fashion Show on Tuesday, September 13th and my daughter got married on Sunday, September 18th. I am only now reviewing the collection.
Dennis Basso presented his Spring 2017 collection on September 13 during New York Fashion Week. The inspiration for Basso’s collection was the “modern world voyager”. The palette was neutral in shades of grey, white, black, cream and champagne. The silhouettes were loose, easy and floated down the runway on a voyage of their own. Basso is a master at construction and attention to detail – hand embroidery, intricate beading, hand pleating – and his way with fur is, of course, legendary. This latest collection was no exception. A pleated chiffon skirt topped with a lighter than air Russian lynx and pleated chiffon jacket made one think, “Of course! Fur in Spring,” as if there was ever any question. A hand embroidered light grey cocktail dress looked as if it was made of spun sugar and a hand embroidered black dress topped with a pleated black broadtail vest was so light and frothy that had it not been grounded on a human body it looked as if it could have floated away. Basso sent 61 looks down the runway and almost all of them will appeal to the modern and youthful woman as well as to women of all ages who want to look effortlessly elegant.
