Today, Pat McGrath Labs‘ breathlessly awaited Lust Lip Collection became available at a Sephora near you. It sold out quickly when it first became available on Pat McGrath’s website but hurry, you may still be in luck. Visit Sephora.com or a store near you.
I was fortunate enough to have bought one of Pat McGrath Labs’ Lust Lip kits before they sold out. There are three choices of color in the collection: Vermillion Venom, Flesh and Bloodwine. Each five piece kit includes two lipsticks, a tube of lipgloss, a pot of microfine glitter and a pot of gold pigment that looks like liquid gold when it’s applied. I chose Vermillion Venom and it arrived yesterday. It is divine and I spent part of my afternoon playing with the different combinations of lip color, gloss and glitter. I felt like a teenager with a new lipstick from the drugstore – but upgraded to the nth degree.
Did you see the MTV Music Video Awards last week? Naomi Campbell wore Pat McGrath’s glittered Vermillion Venom and many, me included, thought this was one of the highlights of the show. Pat McGrath’s lip collection is all over New York Fashion Week which is currently in its second day and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if I were to see glittered lips everywhere this season.
I’ve always loved things that shine, glitter and glow and years ago, I made my own glitter lipgloss and have been doing it ever since. Didn’t score Pat McGrath’s Lust Lip Collection but want to sport the trend? Here’s how you do it.
NYX Cosmetics is one of several companies that make face and body glitter. Simply apply your favorite lipstick and top it with a coat of glitter. Use a brush to press the glitter into your lips. You may need to top the lipstick with a gloss if the glitter doesn’t stick as well as you’d like. NYX Cosmetics Face and Body Glitter is available in a dozen colors and sells for $5.99. Get it below:
Don’t want to go that all out with your glitter lips? Get a more subtle look by adding a little glitter to your existing wand of lipgloss. Dip the gloss’s applicator into the pot of glitter and replace it in the wand. Keep doing this until you get just the look you want. (I’ve been “glitterizing” my Chanel Glossimers for years and always get compliments on it.)

A warning though – make sure you’re not allergic to glitter products. That wouldn’t be fun at all.
