I received complimentary product in exchange for my honest review. That is what follows …
I’m a physical mess. I have a bad back. I have a bum knee. I don’t sleep at night. I hate to complain but these things keep me from working out as hard as I’d like. I totally blame them for some of my recent weight gain. My daughter’s wedding is in a few months and I’m desperate to feel – and look – like myself again.
We all know the importance of sleep on our mental and physical well being. I’ve written about it multiple times and even posted a handy infographic on the correlation between lack of sleep and weight gain. (Yup, there is that. Check out the infographic here.) So it was with great anticipation that I responded to an email asking if I wanted to try a tee shirt infused with a special technology that would help me sleep better, reduce inflammation, improve my workouts and help mitigate pain. My ActiveEdge™ tee came in the mail a few weeks later. I put it away to be tried at a later date. And then I forgot about it.
So, yesterday morning I walked four miles on a trail in the woods, walked another mile and half on the hilly streets of my neighborhood and then I went home to ice my swollen and painful knee. During this downtime I received a reminder email to see if I’d received the Active Edge tee shirt. Crap! I did, but I forgot about it. But hey, now would be the perfect time to put on the Active Edge tee shirt, you know, to see what it can do.
Ok, maybe that’s unfair. It’s not a Superman suit, for Heaven’s sake. But, what if there was a wearable item, like a tee shirt or a bracelet, that you could wear to help you sleep better, improve your athletic performance and lessen pain? It sounds futuristic and almost too crazy to be true but, in clinical trials, ActiveEdge™technology, which infuses electromagnetic frequencies into fabrics and other materials has been shown to increase blood flow and oxygen intake, decrease inflammation and improve sleep. I had to test this for myself.
I put on the tee shirt, started to walk on my treadmill and phoned a friend to talk through the results. I am not kidding but the pain in my knee began to subside. I walked about half a mile on the treadmill and then hit my weight machine. I wanted to seriously test this Active Edge Technology so I added another plate, about 10 pounds, to my leg workout. Relatively pain free! I breezed through leg extensions. Oh, come on! Is this the shirt or the placebo effect?
My friend had questions. I can sense that you do too, as do I. So let’s just ask them.
This Technology Sounds Crazy. Is It Safe?
I’m going to copy directly from the ActiveEdgeGear website to answer this question:
“The results of the clinical trials with 2500 people, as well as the Department of Defense testing, show ZERO negative side effects. In addition, Bureau Veritas, a worldwide-accepted testing lab, has verified by standard test panel (6509)280-0040, that all standards and consumer protection regulations are passed. Our technology contains no toxins, allergens or harmful properties and is non-microbial. All tests comply with US and international testing regulations.”
“*We do not recommend Active Edge™ products for pregnant women, children, or anyone who has an implanted electrical device such as a pacemaker. Active Edge™ has not been tested on either of these groups of people.”
Active Edge gear contains no magnets or metals. Instead, the entire product goes through a proprietary process in which the company embeds low wave frequency into the product itself. Feel free to wash and dry the product. Doing so won’t affect the technology.
So, What Does It Do Again?
According to company literature, Active Edge products can help you perform at optimal levels. Ninety percent of clinical trial participants saw an improvement in their flexibility and strength, an increase in their endurance levels and improved balance. They also reported an improvement in sleep quality saying that while wearing the Active Edge shirt, they were able to fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer. In addition, study participants as well as current users reported decreased pain and increased mobility while wearing the products.
The company says that their clinical trial technology indicates that Active Edge begins to work immediately. However, they recommend wearing Active Edge Gear, such as their bracelets or necklaces, 24 hours a day for the best results.
And, incidentally, people report successful results from using Active Edge Gear on their older dogs to help them with their pain. (The company offers a dog collar too. I’d rather put an Active Edge collar on my pup than to give her cortisone shots or pain pills.)
How’s Your Sleep with the Active Edge Technology Shirt?
To tell you the truth, it was great. I fell asleep quickly and slept through the night. I will admit that this is an incomplete assessment since I’d only worn the shirt once. And by the way, I also wore the shirt on my early morning workout today. (Shh, it’s kinda gross to wear the shirt I slept in to work out in but, don’t judgel. It’s in the interest of scientific investigation.) I walked with a friend who kept asking me to slow down. There was a definite spring in my step and, despite the heavy humidity, my knee didn’t bother me as much as it had on previous walks.
I Want This. I Need This. Where Do I Get It?
Active Edge Gear is available only through the company’s website and through their parent company’s website, Survival Straps®. Active Edge™ is currently available to wear in bracelets, necklaces and shirts. Active Edge™ bracelets and necklaces are woven strands of military paracord handmade in America. The MSRP for Active Edge™ bracelets and necklaces is $69.99, available in a variety of sizes and colors. Active Edge™ shirt options include the Active EdgeTM Classic Shirt, the Active EdgeTM Chest Logo shirt and the Active EdgeTM Classic Tank for $64.99 each. Sizes are small to extra large. I’m going to get myself a bracelet that I will never take off and a couple of extra tees to wear for working out and sleeping. The tee shirt is really soft and comfy and it’s flattering, not at all boxy but certainly not clingy either. I may not be Superman but I feel better and stronger with Active Edge. Let me know if you try it by leaving a comment below. xo
