The 1970s were back and bitchin’ when Malan Breton took the runway at NYC’s Gotham Hall for Style New York Fashion Week. EDM superstar, Sylvia Tosun, opened the show with a fabulous musical number before turning the runway over to Breton’s “Gotham Disco Dollies,” male and female models bedecked and bedazzled in designs that rival the glitz and glam of a Studio 54 dance floor. And then it was all about the clothes. A body hugging gown with a flirty mermaid hem; a low cut, aubergine sequined gown slit to the hip, and an iridescent pants ensemble with matching trench coat were just some of the highlights for women. Malan’s men looked both dapper and hip in narrow pink silk suits, worn sans ties and with sneakers; velvet and leather and the most gorgeous long puffy coat to grace the runways. Malan Breton may have been inspired by the 1970s, but his Fall 2016 collection is essentially modern and absolutely divine. Note: As for the hair looks, I spied a modern version of a stacked perm, here and there.
Here, some looks from the collection …
