Did you catch the Golden Globes last night? Some said it was a shitshow with Ricky Gervaisâs caustic humor highlighted – or low-lighted, depending upon your opinion of Gervais – by an awkward encounter with Mel Gibson that was largely bleeped out to the disappointment of at least one viewer (me!); snubs of favorite shows and performers, (The Americans on FX and Amazon Prime is one of the best shows on TV, imo, and certainly Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys should have each received a nom); speeches that were more about the GG winner telling the band to stop playing because he or she was going to speak, music or not; and a general sense of chaos. But, for me, it was a glorious display of fashion and glam, of jewels and glitz, of beauty and bling – and I loved it.
Iâm going to bring you some of the best beauty looks in a future post but for now, feast your eyes on the fabulous fashion illustrations of Golden Globe attendees by Emily Brickel Edelson who, with her husband Jordan Edelson, co-founded Chic Sketch, a mobile app that, in minutes, sketches photos – including, so fun, your own! – into illustrations that you can then share on social media. I mean, come on. We can be fashion illustrations? I wish Iâd known about this app at my daughterâs wedding last March. Iâd have turned the entire wedding party into a fashion illustration. The standard Chic sketch is $9.99. It’s $14.99 for a high-resolution one. All you have to do is log in and either take a photo of yourself or whomever it is that you want to turn into a fashion illustration or use a photo from your camera stream. Can you see the possibilities here? Download from the App Store and, for Android, on Google Play.
A little about Emily Brickel Edelson: Sheâs an uber-talented illustrator, fashion designer and writer and was named one of Fashionâs Best Illustrators by whowhatwear.com. Her list of clients reads like a Whoâs Who of fashion and includes Gucci, Saks Fifth Avenue, Viktor & Rolf, Cartier and the CFDA. Her illustrations have graced books and magazines and sheâs been commissioned by Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj, among others.
Besides her mobile app, Emily can create custom thank you cards; personal or corporate holiday cards; fashion prints for weddings, engagements, moms-and-grandmoms-to-be, animal lovers as well as logos and banners for your business. The possibilities are endless and, in the talented hands of Emily Brickel Edelson, are sure to be fabulous.

And now, Iâm off to follow Chic Sketch because I canât think of a better first-year anniversary gift for my daughter and her husband than an illustration of them at their wedding. Theyâll LOVE it!
