The beauty industry moves quickly and, if my email and product launch invitations are any indication, there are new product introductions every week. Of course, some of these may not live up to their promises while others may surpass expectations. Below, I take a look at some of the newest and/or most noteworthy beauty products that have come across my virtual transom.
The following products from RoC were provided as a courtesy of RoC Skincare however, this in no way affects my review of the products which I use and love.
RoC Skincare line of products for sensitive skin – Regular readers of EverBeautiful.com know that I am a RoC user and fan. (I wouldn’t use it if I didn’t like the brand and if it didn’t return positive results. I have stated and will reiterate that since I began using RoC Skincare products, I have received more compliments on my skin than I ever had.) And, I’m not certain that it’s new, although it’s new to me, there’s a line for sensitive skin.
RoC Skincare, which was founded in Paris in 1957 by pharmacist Dr. Jean-Charles Lissarague, is a pioneer in the use of a pure, stabilized form of retinol for use in OTC products. In fact, this innovation earned RoC a patent. To this day, retinol is the gold standard ingredient in the fight against the signs of aging, according to leading dermatologists worldwide. However, some people may be sensitive to it and experience redness or irritation upon use. RoC has addressed these issues for those with sensitive skin by producing a line of products specially formulated for use on sensitive skin. I could take a Brillo pad to my skin and not have issues. While I do have some skin allergies, retinol is not one of them and my skin responds well to RoC’s regular line of products. However, the company was kind and more than generous by sending me their Retinol Correxion Sensitive Night Cream, Retinol Correxion Sensitive Eye Cream and their new Daily Resurfacing Disks. I have yet to try the two former products, but the latter is pure genius. One side of these dual-purpose cleansing disks contains a self-foaming cleanser that whisks away dirt, oil and makeup while the other side is textured to gently exfoliate dead skin cells to improve skin’s texture. They are also hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic. As I said, genius! If you’re plagued with sensitive skin or just want to ease your way into using retinol, try RoC Skincare for Sensitive Skin.
And here’s some more exciting RoC news that I just learned. RoC Skincare products are featured in Lois Joy Johnson’s new book, THE WOMAN’S WAKEUP: How to Shake Up Your Looks, Life, and Love After 50, due to be released on December 22. As a top beauty and fashion editor/author/blogger, Johnson’s latest book covers the hottest areas of interest for women 50+, from style trends and online dating to balancing careers and family life. THE WOMAN’S WAKEUP includes interviews with renowned experts and medical professionals, as well as interviews with real women from all walks of life. Here’s an excerpt: “During sleep, skin cells repair and rejuvenate, your body temperature drops, and hormonal changes push blood flow to the skin, so serious night treatments like retinol help to boost collagen and speed up cell turnover.” Two that get rave reviews are RoC Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Serum and RoC Retinol Correxion Eye Cream. —Dermatologist Dr. Debra Jaliman and Lois Joy Johnson.

Toppik Brow Building Fibers Set – Toppik is known for its hair-thickening fibers and now offers a kit for filling in thin eyebrows. I am eyebrow-impaired with just a thin brow that makes me crazy. I’ve tried all sorts of eyebrow product, some better than others, and jumped at the chance to receive a complimentary sample of Toppik Brow Building Fibers Set to review for you. The set is a two-part eyebrow enhancing system that’s comprised of wax which you apply with an angled brush to your existing brows, no matter how sparse. The handy two-piece compact also contains tiny hairlike-fibers that are applied to the wax with the rounded side of the same brush. Toppik Brow Building Fibers Set comes in several colors and can be built up as much as you like. It offers a very natural look and stays put all day long. I didn’t find that there was a learning curve. It was easy for me to use – and yes, I’m a brow expert, with years of practice. Nevertheless, I believe that even a novice can easily enhance their brows with this kit. Get it on Toppik.com.
Candy Lipz Lip Enhancer – Remember a few months back when social media was dominated by Kylie Jenner’s lips and girls everywhere were doing this weird bottle thing that plumped their lips but also harmed them? So yeah, that bottle thing is over as far as I know but the quest for fuller lips remains. In the interest of full disclosure – because why bother having this blog if I’m not going to be honest with you? – I’ve experimented with lip injections. My Botox doctor did them, several times, and I loved them, for as long as they lasted. For some reason, my lips reverted to their thin selves within two weeks and my doctor, who tried various lip fillers on me, said that I shouldn’t waste my money anymore. We both agreed that I am a lip filler failure. Sigh. I’ve been “overdrawing” my top lip line for years, even before I knew the term overdrawing. But eating, drinking, talking and kissing add up to faded lipstick and a telltale lipliner line. It’s not a big deal and should be the worst of my problems, but I was eager to try Candy Lipz when offered a complimentary one by the company. And, surprise, it works, if only temporarily. Candy Lipz is a kind of ingeniously-designed suction cup that, when suction is applied to the lips, swells them and makes them look pretty damn sexy. With Candy Lipz, unlike with Kylie Jenner’s fans’ bottles, you can custom design your lip look. Want a pouty bottom lip only or a well-defined Cupid’s bow? How about an all over pouty lip? You can achieve that with Candy Lipz. So, I tried it yesterday and it was easy enough to use. Purse your lips, squeeze the cute apple suction cup, insert your lips into the appropriate place for them, release the suction and, if you’ve done it correctly, you’ll feel a gentle pulling and suction that you should hold for 30 seconds. Squeeze the apple again to release the suction and, voila, pumped up lips. The effect is temporary and lasts up to two hours. But don’t overdo it or make the suction too strong or you may end up with bruised lips. There’s a tiny learning curve here and there may be a temptation to overdo, so read the instructions and follow them.Get it on Candy Lipz.com
And while I’m on the subject of lips, Kissamint is a lip duo that includes a conditioning gloss, available in either sheer or tinted, to hydrate lips AND a mint dropper to keep your breath fresh, all in one tiny package. Cute! This would make a great stocking stuffer or tuck one into your day or evening bag. Get it on Kissamint.com.
WorryLess is a cosmetic that, according to company literature “looks like real skin” to erase facial worry lines. WorryLess uses medical grade silicone that simulates skin to fill and conceal frown lines between your eyebrows. And the effect is instant. The starter kit comes in six shades, each containing two different colors, two applicators, primer with brush, mixing stick, application tool, spatula and texture pad. WorryLess is waterproof, non-irritating, non-invasive, clinically and dermatologist- and allergy-tested. It offers instant results. Note: I haven’t tried this only because I don’t have glabella lines, those vertical lines between the eyebrows. But, if it works on horizontal forehead lines, I’m in. Want to try it? It’s $60.00 on Dermaflage.com. And, if you try it, you must get back to me, please. I’m so curious about this product.
