DIY Fashion from Althea Harper and Rowenta
Peplum tops, dresses and jackets ruled the runways last spring and the trend continues for Spring 2014. Love the look but don’t want to make a financial commitment to it? Fashion designer and Project Runway Alumnus Althea Harper has teamed up with Rowenta, manufacturer of high-performance steam irons and the official garment care sponsor of New York Fashion Week to offer up the following DIY Fashion video so you can create the look yourself. (I have 10 thumbs when it comes to sewing but I think that even I can create this adorable top. I’m certainly going to give it a try.)
Project Runway aficionados will remember Althea Harper from the series’ sixth season in which she finished as runner up. During her PR stint, Tim Gunn, former chair of fashion design at Parsons The New School for Design and host of Project Runway, said, “Everyone thinks she’s only on the show because she’s a tall blond beauty. Harper who manages her own eponymous line, has worked alongside renowned designers including Anna Sui, Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood. She also designed knitwear for Tory Burch while continuing to work on her own line which she debuted during New York Fashion Week 2009 to great critical acclaim. She now designs full time for her fashion line, Althea Harper, and is a brand ambassador for Rowenta. Visit her site http://www.altheaharper.com to see all of her collections.
You, of course, know Rowenta, manufacturer of steam irons, steamers and hair care products including blow dryers, flat irons and curling irons. Rowenta has been a household name for more than 100 years. The iron featured in the video is the Rowenta Pro Master Iron.
