Fashion Shenzhen Spring Summer 2014
Fashion Shenzhen, named for the bustling city in China, made its debut at New York Fashion Week last week and showcased the designs of Guoxin Xia of Ellassay and Deng Hao. Xia treated onlookers to eminently wearable designs that included boxy black and white jackets, shift dresses in gradient shades of blue and lime green (love!), a flowing white chiffon top ornamented with blue flowers and vines on the sleeves and several designs in a surprising and beautiful white holographic fabric. Xia fused flattering and modern silhouettes with innovative fabrics and patterns which made for a very successful collection, indeed.
After a brief wait and a change of signage and music, the incredibly intricate and outstandingly beautiful evening wear of Deng Hao was showcased. The models slowed down their pace to allow attendees long (and in my case, loving) looks at the designs that could only be described as wearable art. The influence of Chinese culture was apparent in every one of Hao’s couture designs, many of which featured sheer fabrics and sequin flowers. The collection took my breath away and left me yearning for a closer look. It would be unfair of me not to mention the shoes. (I must have a pair!)

Deb – Yes, yes! I want every piece in the first collection and I want so badly to run my hands over and feast my eyes on the second. I don’t think I could wear many of those clothes but they are SO beautiful, I want to just OWN them. The Fashion Shenzhen show was such a treat, I’m thrilled to be able to share it with you. xo, Melody
Love the black and white pieces but the colors and fabrics on the evening wear – – WOW! Gorgeous!!
Each designer presented an amazing collection. I was not familiar with Fashion Shenzhen before the show. I’m so glad to know of them and to bring them to the attention of EB readers. Thanks, as always, for keeping up with EB and for sharing your insights. xo, Melody
