Jenny Packham Spring Summer 2014
Jenny Packham Spring Summer 2014 Collection took its inspiration from Picnic at Hanging Rock, the 1970s movie that was set in the Edwardian Era – and somehow it all coalesced on the runway as models rocked disco hair and softly-colored flowing gowns that were given a modern twist with all that glitters. The collection, by Kate Middleton’s favorite designer, was spot on when it comes to glamour and elegance but one need not be royalty to wear any of the pieces. (Although I couldn’t help imagining Her Royal Highness Catherine in future photos. Honestly, I couldn’t help but imagine myself in some of the gowns either.) The only argument I have with the collection – and I am going to fashion hell for saying this, I am sure – is that the red soles of the Christian Louboutin heels detracted from the soft and ephemeral look of some of the lighter designs. The soles were particularly jarring with Packham’s soft grey and muted pink gowns. Overall, however, it’s a gorgeous collection.
