CHRISTIAN SIRIANO, NEW YORK FASHION WEEK, SPRING SUMMER 2014
For Spring 2014, Christian Siriano whisked us off to the tropics in a collection that was inspired by his recent trip to Isla Mujeres, the “Island of Women” off Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. Corals, florals and fringe permeated much of the collection which included day separates and evening looks, for which Siriano is best known. This presentation was lighter and more relaxed than Siriano’s past collections with daytime looks that included flirty floral shorts and jacket paired with a sheer top, cropped tops and pants and tribal patterned jackets. However, the stars of the collection were undoubtedly Siriano’s evening looks which floated down the runway in a cavalcade of fringe, ostrich feathers and luscious organza.
The theme of the collection was carried through to the models’ fingertips as Red Carpet Manicure brand ambassador and celebrity manicurist Lisa Logan collaborated with Siriano to create a custom, color-block manicure. Utilizing existing colors, Logan prepped each nail with “Fake Bake” for a base color, and intricately color blocked the nail with small boxes made with “The Perfect Pair,” underneath which she layered “White Hot,” adding an extra pop to the neon yellow. “After seeing the colors and prints and collaborating with Christian, I knew we had to do something that was as dramatic and powerful in the lightest way possible to match the collection itself,” said Logan.
