Yonanas

YUM! YONANAS!

I’m so excited about this new find, I feel like I’ve just discovered America – but in actuality I just discovered Yonanas, a kitchen gadget that turns bananas and other fruit into creamy, yummy frozen treats with no added fat and no added sugar.

Yonanas is easy to use, easy to clean and I give it such a great workout it never spends any time in my kitchen cabinets. It remains front and center on my counter.

Yonanas uses frozen bananas, the sweeter the better. You know bananas get brown spots and turn mushy. I won’t eat them like that – but at that stage, they’re best for making Yonanas frozen banana custard. Simply peel them, freeze them and, when you’re craving a creamy frozen treat, allow them to sit at room temperature for a few minutes and then put them through the Yonanas machine. Easy.

I’m a purist. I like my Yonanas using bananas and nothing else. My family has experimented with frozen bananas and all sorts of other frozen fruits as well as chocolate chips, cookie mix-ins and all varieties of toppings. In fact, my kids like Yonanas so much, they each wanted one for their respective homes. And, friends to whom I’ve served Yonanas desserts report that they’ve bought their own machines.

Here are a couple of recipes from the Yonanas website:
