New York Fashion Week is in full swing and, despite slushy – and sometimes icy – streets, fashionistas showed up to see the collections. (And, yes, it was a challenge to decide upon the appropriate footwear.) I was honored to be invited to view the Fall 2013 presentation of Nina Skarra. Norwegian-born Skarra is known for her sustainable, timeless designs. She started out as an illustrator and graphic designer before deciding to pursue her passion for textiles and fashion design. With an eye for detail and silhouettes that flatter the body, Skarra’s collections, crafted of silk, wool, bamboo, organic cotton and eco leather, are beloved by fashionistas worldwide. Skarra successfully melds her dedication to the environment with a strong fashion aesthetic and the result is … well, see for yourselves. Here, highlights from Nina Skarra Fall 2013, plus a few shots of the venue. (My thanks and love to Victoria Riess for taking all the photos and for her invaluable help.)
Love the dedication to eco friendly, sustainable fabrics. The long white gown and the white chunky sweater are fantastic. Great team coverage from the EB fashion week team.
Thank you. I do have a great team. Best in the world! xo, Melody
I LOVE the red trench, just beautiful! You always manage to capture great images of fashion week AND choose the best foot wear for the occasion. Enjoy the week!
Thank you, love, but all accolades go to Tori who was my editor/photog for the day. You have a good week too. Miss you! xo, Mel
ohh, love this collection!!! wish I had the bod & the $$ would buy it all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nina Skarra proves that sustainable fashion can be, well, Fashion with a capital F. The red coat is to die for as are the chunky knits and the details on the dresses. Very cool – and not a drain on the environment. Who doesn’t love that? xo, Mel
