The Golden Globes 2013 are now just a memory – but what a show it was. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler kept the laughs coming as they hosted a night of glamour and greatness. Some highlights of the night included Bill Clinton introducing Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln and Ben Affleck’s wins for Argo after being “snubbed” by the Oscars, the nominees of whom were announced last week. Argo snatched the Golden Globe for Best Picture; Affleck took home the statue for Best Director. Lena Dunham was officially welcomed into the echelons of Hollywood elite with her win for Best Actress in a TV Comedy for her HBO show Girls, which she also writes and directs. The show also won for Best Comedy Series. But perhaps the highlight of the show was Jodie Foster’s incredibly personal, albeit at times rambling and confusing, speech in which she maybe (maybe not) announced her retirement from show business and outed herself as single, in a nod to the ever-present questions about her sexuality.  “I already did my coming out about a thousand years ago back in the Stone Age,” she said before thanking Cydney Bernard, her “heroic co-parent” and  “ex-partner in love.” The most moving part of her revelatory speech came when she thanked her mother saying, “This brings me to the greatest influence of my life, my amazing mother, Evelyn. Mom, I know you’re inside those blue eyes somewhere and that there are so many things that you won’t understand tonight. But this is the only important one to take in: I love you, I love you, I love you. And I hope that if I say this three times, it will magically and perfectly enter into your soul, fill you with grace and the joy of knowing that you did good in this life. You’re a great mom. Please take that with you when you’re finally OK to go.” I reached for my tissues at home as the camera panned the audience and showed the industry’s most glamorous stars dabbing at the corners of their eyes.

And then, of course, there was the fashion.  Biggest Golden Globe 2013 fashion trend? Black. It’s back, baby and in a big way. Black reads flat on screen and is often eschewed on the red carpet because of this. But it was shown on so many designers’ runways last year for Spring 2013 that stars and stylists couldn’t ignore its sophisticated allure. My faves? Kate Hudson in Alexander McQueen and Eva Longoria in slit-up-to-there Pucci.

Nude continued to make news in the way of color and flashes of skin, thanks to slits, cutouts, sheer fabrics and lots of lace.  Jennifer Lopez draped her assets in a sheer bodycon lace confection by Zuhair Murad. Kerry Washington, always a red carpet favorite, wore a nude Miu Miu dress with a sheer skirt and embellished with silver beading. And, following in the footsteps of Angelina Jolie who famously struck a pose and bared her right leg in a thigh high slit dress by Versace at last year’s Oscar Awards were Lea Michelle in Elie Saab, Halle Berry in Versace and Katharine McPhee in Olivier Theyskens for Theory.

And then there were the girls in red. My faves: Jennifer Lawrence wore Christian Dior Couture with a fitted waist, flared skirt and cone bodice and Claire Danes was draped in an elegantly simple Versace, which showed off her body less than one month after giving birth to her first child on December 17th.

Bunheads were everywhere with Eva Longoria doing it best in a piled high topknot – but my favorite hair styles were loose and free. My nod goes to Kate Hudson who looked gorgeous in a center part and easy, flowing locks.

To achieve Kate Hudon’s gorgeous Golden Globes 2013 hair,  celebrity hair stylist David Babaii used IT&LY HAIRFASHION’S Purity Design Line that gives a natural, long-lasting hold which is perfect for beautiful results. David started with IT&LY’s Pure Water Drops Serum before blow drying. Next, he added IT&LY’s Pure Style Mousse Strong and used a medium round brush at the root area to add volume then switching to a large round brush to smooth and create soft rounded edges. After drying, David created a natural side part spritzing IT&LY’s Pure Volumizing Eco at the base for added lift and down the shaft for more piecey definition. For her sexy fringe he wrapped the bang area around a medium round brush spraying a small amount of IT&LY’s Pure Volumizing Eco again. With the blow dryer temperature on high, he directed heat on the brush followed by a quick blast of cool air to set. Gently he removed the brush to release the fringe. With his fingers he combed through and allowed the hair to fall naturally into place. To finish, he misted the hair with IT&LY Pure Definition Hair Spray for soft touchable hair with memory hold.
