In case you’re unaware of New York Color cosmetics, allow me to introduce them to you. I’ve been using their Eyeliner Duet Pencils for a while and besides their ease of use and realistic colors, at about $1.99, the value can’t be beat. They’re long-wearing, smudge-resistant and I always have one or two tucked into my cosmetic bag.
I’d not tried their other products, I must confess – until I received a full-sized sample in my Holiday VoxBox from Influenster.com. Influenster.com is a digital community that enables members to test products and share opinions on what they like – and what they don’t like. Members receive periodic shipments of VoxBoxes which are, to a diehard Influenster like me, manna from heaven. They’re chock full of beauty and personal care products and, when I get one in the mail, it’s like Christmas (or Chanukah, in my case.)
The most recent Holiday VoxBox came several weeks ago. It was my second and I dug through it with relish. Tucked away at the bottom was a tube of New York Color Liquid Lipshine in a shade called Nude New York. From looking at the color in the tube, I could tell it was not a shade I’d normally buy. I tend towards berries and deeper colors. Or something uber-glittery. Nude New York is neither. As I found out when I tried it on, it’s a beautiful, shimmery neutral shade that made my lips look miraculously fuller. New York Color Liquid Lipshine is enriched with Vitamin E which probably accounts for why it helps to moisturize my lips. I thought it might be a great shade for layering over a darker lipstick, but I love it so much alone, I haven’t tried that yet. It’s a shade that would probably be great on most complexions.
Unlike other glosses I’ve tried, New York Color’s Nude New York is not sticky or goopy. Its sponge wand applies the gloss evenly and sparingly. (I can’t stand when gloss comes out of the wand too heavily.) New York Color Lipshine is long-lasting and it has a very faint but yummy scent that appeals to me a lot – but not so much that I chew it off.
I’m a fan. New York Color cosmetics has my eyes and lips covered. I can’t wait to try their other products.
Oh, New York Color’s Liquid Lipshine retails for about $2.49. Seriously. Great color, coverage and staying power – at a great price. Get it at Walmart, Target, Rite Aid, CVS, Family Dollar, Duane Reade, Kmart, HEB, and others.
I’m new to them too, but someone on Instagram tipped me off about their Liquid Eyeliners and I’m a convert! They’re better than MAC! I might pop in and pick up this gloss now too, as everythings under £2.50 in Superdrug here in the UK at the moment!
Hey Gemma – Thanks for your comment! I’ve used NYC eyeliner pencils in the past. Love them. Great quality and a great price. Now I’m also addicted to their lipgloss. I’ve slicked New York Nude over bare lips and over other shades of lipstick and it looks great and dewy any way I wear it. I also like the way it feels. Let me know if you pick some up.
