I’m having one of those mornings – you know what I mean. Got up later than usual. Tripped over the dog and bashed my knee into the ground. I fumble everything I touch and have already broken a juice glass and coffee cup. I’d admit defeat and call it a day if I didn’t have an important appointment this afternoon. As I stare at my bare face in the mirror, I curse my eyeshadow compacts and brushes and wish there was an elegantly simple and quick way to do my makeup. And then I remember the sample of Eye Majic instant eye shadow sponges that were so kindly (and freely!) sent to me by a company rep. Perfect, I think. I don’t even read the directions. How hard can it be, really? Eyeshadow is embedded into soft sponges that you apply directly to your eyelid while pressing down gently along the length of the sponge. Couldn’t be easier. And it looks pretty good too.
I must admit that I don’t apply my colors the way Eye Majic applies them – darker shade on the lid, lighter shade in the crease. I’ve always done it the other way around – but I like the way my eyes look. They’re very naturally and flatteringly shaded. I apply a thin line of brown pencil, a coat of mascara and I’m good to go.
Did Eye Majic save time? Maybe a little – but that’s not its primary virtue, in my opinion. When I look at my finished Eye Majic-decorated eye, I deem it a win. Eye Majic gave me a new way to wear my shadow and saved me the process of trial and error to find a flattering new look. I was stuck in a rut, and Eye Majic, pardon the expression, opened my eyes to a new way to apply my makeup.
While I don’t necessarily recommend Eye Majic for the person who’s trying to save time in the morning – after all, how long does it take to apply a couple of colors of shadow? – it’s a fun gift for the novice makeup wearer who may not know how to apply shadow to its best advantage and for the seasoned makeup wearer who may be wary of trying a new look.
Eye Majic is available in 24 completely wearable color ranges that are appropriate for every day. (And I intend to try them all. I could use a few new ways to apply my shadow.) Plus, if you want to play with pattern, there are six fun leopard prints available.
Eye Majic Shadows are available in packs of 2, 5 or 10 pair boxes for $3.49, $8.49, and $15.95 (plus shipping and handling) respectively. The Leopard Shadows are available in 2 pair boxes for $3.49 plus s&h.
