This week’s question is from Sandy who asks:
What brand of boot is Shoshanna wearing with you and Dennis Basso…so cute!
Hi Sandy.
Thanks so much for your question. First though, that’s not me in the photo with Shoshanna and Dennis. It’s the brilliant Dr. Rocio Rivera. (Many people think she’s me in some of the photos. I hope she’s ok with that. I certainly am! She is a beautiful woman.)
Now for the boots – I don’t know what brand Shoshanna is wearing but there are lots of duck boots on the market. This season I’m loving Tory Burch‘s.
She has several styles of duck boots but I love these:
A less expensive pair of duck boots are these by Sporto. They range in price from around $79., on sale at Famous Footwear to $99. at Piperlime.com.
And here’s one by Timberland. These retail for about $150.
There are many, many more on the market in a wide variety of prices.
I have searched but haven’t found a pair like Shoshanna’s black and white boots. And I agree that they are fabulous. Perhaps she’ll read this post and will get back to me with the manufacturer of her boots. Of course, if that happens, I will let you know.
I’ve had a pair of duck boots for more than a decade. They are practically impervious and never go out of style.
Have fun finding a pair that suits you. Let us know how you do! And thanks again for your question.

These are for duck hunting, right?
Thanks!! They are made by the brand Columbia. They’re super comfortable too!
Shoshanna! Thank you for writing back. I really appreciate it – and know my readers do too. Hope all is well with you. (The Vogue ad that QVC framed for me is displayed in my apartment and makes me smile each time I see it. I’ve told you in person, but again, thanks so much for making the shoot so much fun. You made it much easier for me and I appreciate that more than I can ever state in words.) Warm regards, Melody
Gail, fashionistas co-opted the look years ago from preppies who co-opted it from hunters. LL Bean takes credit for introducing duck boots (Bean Boots) more than 100 years ago. Many fashions are “borrowed” and tweaked, as you know. To wit: hippie chic, military looks, menswear for women, lingerie looks for daytime. The list is endless.
