I love Barbie. So you know I’ll log in to Gilt Groupe tonight at 9 pm ET when they have their special sale on dolls from the Barbie Basics Collection, a group of dolls dressed in LBD’s designed by members of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA). Fashionistas will know that the CFDA held their annual awards show a couple of evenings ago. Lady Gaga, wearing a turquoise wig and a corseted Thierry Mugler gown – and later a sheer bodysuit and jeweled thong – was awarded Fashion Icon of the Year. Proenza Schouler’s Jack McCullough and Lazaro Hernandes took top honors as Womenswear Designer Of The Year. Marc Jacobs took home the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award and – one of my faves – Prabal Gurung won the Swarovski emerging talent award for womenswear.
I digress. Back to Barbie. Read about the initial introduction of the Barbie Basics Collection here.
And, read my post “Did Barbie Get a Boob Job” about Barbie doll #10 from the Barbie Basics Collection that caused quite a stir when she was first introduced.
Whether you pick up a doll or two for yourself or a favorite little girl in your life, be sure to check out Gilt Groupe’s little black dresses that are also on sale tonight.
