As Karl Lagerfeld was about to send his models down the runway for his Paris Fall/Winter 2010/2011 show, he was notified by French President Nicolas Sarkozy that he is to be named a Commander of the French Legion of Honor, the highest decoration in France. The award, established by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1802 to recognize the contributions of soldiers and civilians, will be presented by President Sarkozy. The date of the ceremony has yet to be set.
It was also announced yesterday that Lagerfeld, creative director for Chanel, Fendi and his own label, will photograph the iconic Pirelli calendar, joining the pantheon of such stellar photographers as Herb Ritts, Richard Avedon, Annie Leibovitz and Patrick Demarchelier.
We love you Karl!
