Billed as a “definitive couple’s workout,” WeFitFor2 is a set of three exercise dvds created by Dean Graham, a fitness industry expert, personal trainer and former national martial arts champion; and Lori Lim, a former champion ice dancer, group fitness instructor and certified health counselor.
I had looked forward to trying the program from the moment I first heard about it. Working out with a partner, using only your body weight and his or hers for resistance and support, is a great concept. After receiving WeFitFor2 for review, I cajoled my workaholic husband into putting aside some time to do it. I so wanted to love this program. I so wanted to be able to DO this program. As it is, I’ll spare you the details. Suffice it to say our pathetic attempts at accomplishing even some of the exercises had us exhausted, frustrated and reduced to two piles of limp – but laughing – flesh. (Laughing together is a good thing, right? But it’s not the main goal of the WeFitFor2 program.)
In fairness, WeFitFor2 begins with the warning that it is going to be intense. There is the standard admonition to check with your doctor before beginning an exercise program. And then it began. And ended. For us, anyway.
Oh, we did give it a fair try but holding me upside down while I did pushups was just a bit daunting. (I was afraid of falling on my head!) And doing single-legged squats with one leg forward and under my husband’s separated legs while he stood and helped support me, holding my hands in a cross-grip was really, really hard. (Can you picture it? Please don’t. It wasn’t pretty.)
Readers of this blog know that I work out. Resistance training is my exercise of choice and it is disappointing to admit that we gave up without getting through even half of the program. It was fun though, in an enviable sort of way, to just watch Lori and Dean go through their paces.
I don’t want to dismiss WeFitFor2. It might be right for some readers and the FAQ does indicate that fitness levels will improve with practice. I love the concept and I might revisit the dvds and try the program again. If the idea of working out using only your and your partner’s weight as resistance appeals to you, go for it. Buy the dvds at http://www.wefitfor2.com for $25.97.

Wow, while it sounds very difficult, it also sounds really interesting… and laughing burns calories so that’s an added bonus. Thanks for the review and sharing a new way to work out.
