Raindrops on roses and slim-fitting cargoes,
Jeggings and menswear and opaque pantyhose,
Tough boots with heels, faux fur fastened with hooks,
These are a few of my favorite looks …
And whiskers on kittens.
Fall is officially upon us and, if you havenât already done so, itâs time to go shopping. Here, my favorite Fall 2010 fashion trends to use as a guide when you hit the stores.
GO GRAY
While there are plenty of black fashions to keep even the most color-averse fashionista happy, gray is the new black for Fall 2010, showing up in equal parts in head to toe looks and accessories. Â Perhaps no one did it better than Michael Kors whose runway show was completely on trend with menswear looks, maxi skirts, camel and gray flannel. Â
CAMEL COATS
All hail the return of the classic camel coat. Â (Did it ever really go away?) This season, camel is more popular than ever and, in my opinion, is best done as a classic trench.
MILITARY LOOKS
Military looks ruled the runway. Â A fave shown by many designers was the skinny cargo pant. Â Pair them with a simple tee or v-neck sweater and a pair of strappy sandals for an edgy look.
FAUX FUR
When the economy is bad, many women turn to classic clothing that will look good year after year.  And much of this year’s crop of Fall/Winter offerings was no exception as designers sent menswear-inspired coats and suits and classic silhouettes in wearable hues of gray, black, taupe and camel down the runway.  Fur, real and faux, was a luxurious trim on everything from jackets to suits to handbags to shoes. And, of course, no one can top  – or be more over the top – than Karl Lagerfeld whose fantasy fur-trimmed frocks and accessories were cuddle-worthy.
HEAD TO TOE COLOR
The season isn’t all black, gray and camel. Â Many designers opted for a brighter palette and swathed their models in head to toe color.
MENSWEAR
Classic clothing, devoid of gimmicks and frills made a comeback this season with menswear influences taking center stage. Â No one does it better than Marc Jacobs.
