By Posing Nude in New York Magazine
For those of us who feel less desirable as we grow older, Helen Mirren proves that beauty is ageless. Nude photos by Juergen Teller of the soon to be 65 year-old actress, posing in a bath tub, sans predictable bubbles, accompany an interview in the Summer Issue of New York Magazine, on newsstands this week. Mirren is promoting her new movie Love Ranch, in which she plays Grace Botempo, the madam of a 1970s Reno brothel. The film, which opens June 30th, is based on Nevada’s real Mustang Ranch; Mirren’s character is based on Susan Austin, the ranch’s madam.
In an interview with Logan Hill, author of the NY Magazine article, Mirren says of her sexuality, “The Playboy Mansion, coke, and the rise of all that—Guccione and Hefner always pushed it as liberation, but it didn’t seem like that to me,” she says. “That was women obeying the sexualized form created by men—though maybe we always do that, because we want to be attractive. But I was kind of a trailblazer because I demanded to do it my own way. I’d say, ‘I’m not having it put on me by someone else.’ I didn’t want to be the sort of puritanical good girl with a little white collar who says, ‘Don’t shag until you get married.’”
Helen Mirren, everbeautiful and ageless, would be on our cover, if we had one. But we don’t, and neither, apparently, does she. Read the NY Magazine article here: http://nymag.com/guides/summer/2010/66750/
