Danielle Z for Wilbur Pack, Jr. at Full Figured Fashion Week

Calling all curvy women. Grab a cup of tea, pull up a chair and let’s talk. I want to let you in on a little secret  …

His name is Wilbur Pack, Jr. and he’s a fashion designer who creates beautiful clothing for plus size women. In fact, you may have heard of him before. He’s been featured in many magazines, including Women’s Wear Daily and Jet and participated in last year’s 24 Hour Catwalk on Lifestyle TV. (Not gonna lie. He looked pretty damn fierce in his yellow suit and his personality had not only his many fans rooting for him, but plenty of new converts as well.) He’s dressed Patti LaBelle and Lonette McKee, as well as other celebrities, and got his fashion chops as an apprentice for Cynthia Rowley and the master of haute couture himself, Ralph Rucci. In other words, Mr. Pack knows how to cut a cloth.

Curvy fashionistas are often dismayed at the dearth of fashionable, well made clothing in the marketplace. But that was before Wilbur Pack launched his line, SK Wilbur. And, beginning today when you log onto http://www.skwilbur.com you will experience a newly revamped website that’s easy to navigate and completely user friendly.  “Prior to this, our brand message was not clear,” says Pack of the new design.  “There was a disconnect between our facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/sortakinda), the blog (http://www.iamfabulous-ablackfashiondudesodyssey.blogspot.com), and our company website.  I think this overhaul will unite all of our outlets and really engage our customer while providing her with a pleasant shopping experience.”

Currently, the site features Eye Candy, SK Wilbur’s Fall 2012 Collection which, as his website proclaims, “is a visual feast for the curvy woman,” and melds Pack’s finely honed attention to texture and tailoring with his love for color. (Remember the aforementioned yellow suit?)

After his lauded return to the runway for New York’s Full Figured Fashion Week last June, Pack made it his mission to give curvy women an online experience that exemplifies polish and panache with content that is visually stimulating.  “Our credo is BOLD, MODERN, CLASSIC style for the curvy woman, so we’re offering a shopping destination and a product assortment from tops, to skirts and pants, to coats and accessories, and dresses as well, that reflect that philosophy,” says Pack.  Discounts and gifts with purchase will be offered to return customers and each season a new narrative will be woven throughout the site to give visitors some insight into Pack’s design process.

Prices range from $85.00 for a Gonna Make You Sweat top to $900.00 for the Taking Candy from a Baby made-to-order dress.  It’s “accessible luxury” for the curvy woman.

Check it out and I’ll pour us another cup.
